Addison Claire Scarborough Arrived February 3, 1999, 6:42 a.m. 6 lbs., 9 oz. - 19 inches So… it was Tuesday Feb. 2, and Karen went to have her regularly scheduled appointment with her midwife, Brenda Brickhouse (please… no Commodore references). Upon arrival, Karen's blood pressure was up among other warning signs. Brenda immediately admitted her to the hospital. Karen called me and gave me the high-sign to put our birth plan in gear. Needless to say, I freaked. At about noon, Karen was given some medication to soften her cervix and soon after, she went into labor. By around 10:30 p.m. she was in active labor and getting a bit uncomfortable. A somewhat sleepy anesthesiologist arrived and Karen, though groggy herself, quipped "you need to wake up now!" Moments later she arrived in epidural heaven. Through the night she labored like a champ. One "hot spot" of pain had to be taken care of with some more drugs (ooooo… ahhhhhh) and by around 6:25 a.m. she was ready to push. Brenda gave her the instructions and at 6:42 a.m., Addison Claire arrived. Enjoy the pix… we hope to see you all very soon!
